Guru Angad Dev Veterinary and Animal Sciences University (GADVASU) was established at Ludhiana. It is promoting livestock production, health and prevention of the disease(s) through integrated teaching, research and extension programme(s).
It conducts specialized training courses for dairy, piggery, poultry and fish farming and value addition of livestock products. It is helpful for organised farmers, army personnel and for persons related with other animal welfare agencies.

Specialized Dairy Training Course – It is two weeks’ duration and happens in the months of January, May, and July every year.
Specialized Piggery Training Course – It is the one-week duration and happens in the month of March every year
Specialized Poultry Training Course – It is for two weeks’ duration in the month of November every year.
Feed Manufacturers Training Course – It is three days duration as per the request from Punjab Dairy Development Board.
Commercial Dairy Farming Course – It is two months duration (as per demand)
Fish Farming Training Course – It is 5 days duration in the month of July/ August
Training on Technologies for Higher Fish Production – It is 10 days duration (as per demand).
Training on Ornamental Fish Farming – It is 2 days duration (as per demand).
Specialized training course on Sheep/Goat – It is 3 days duration (as per demand).
Training for Dog Owners – It is a single day duration (as per demand).
